The Application in question uses a lot of VB scripts and Webroot scanned it every time it was run which added about a second to every click. We finally ended up on Webroot after reading some good reviews while moving to Connectwise and have only had one issue with one customer on one very specific business application. It was worse than Bitdefender at false quarantines and blocking legitimate traffic. We tried Kaspersky for a bit because one of our customers really like it. I started looking for a solution that would do it's job with less input from me, plus AV that breaks things makes us look bad. I felt like at the time that it was good AV but was giving me more headaches than needed. When the issue was realized it usually meant white-listing all folders tied to that software at the request of the software vendor. It would quarantine files that would break their practice management/business specific software. It's been a while ago so I don't remember specific examples but we had issues with business critical applications at about half of the locations it was deployed at. We did have to whitelist a few folders for them but that took care of it and the issue hasn't returned. After switching to Webroot it has been very smooth. Turns out there were multiple KB articles about issues with that software and Bitdefender. It is worth noting that we had a new accountant onboard in March and they were really worried about AV as their prior MSP's AV (bitdefender) and their accounting software were always fighting and it had been an issue for years. When we switched to Webroot the only thing that changed is the issue with false quarantines went away. On the other hand we didn't have any infections while on bitdefender either, it cleared up many problem clients but we had so many more false quarantines. We currently have almost 300 installs on Webroot and no one has been infected with ransomware or anything else since we switched three years ago last month. I do think there is a difference between lab testing and real world use. ![]()
